Since childhood, we have been listening to the stories of Akbar and Birbal. He is known for his clever intelligence, but he was also a true Solder. We often know Birbal as stories but never try to know about him. Today we will know something about Birbal which you may know.

Birbal was a Hindu Brahmin. He was born in Madhya Pradesh 1528 (India). According to folklore, it was in Tikwanpur along the river Yamuna. His real name was Mahesh Das. His father was Ganga Das and mother Anabha Davito. He was the third Brahmbhatt family, which had an old connection to poetry and literature. Most people know them for folk tales. He was a very intelligent and calm personality. Birbal used to be a poet and singer in about 1556-1562. Due to his intelligence, Raja Akbar appointed him as a minister in his court, One of the important courtiers became Akbar's favorite minister was Birbal. He was the only Hindu to adopt religion Deen-e Elahi in the court.

He studied in Hindi, Sanskrit, and Persian and wrote prose, music, and poetry in many Braj languages. Initially, the economic and social status of Birbal was poor but after the marriage and the appointment of the Mughal Emperor Akbar in the royal court, the economic condition improved.

There was a close relationship between Akbar and Birbal. Akbar considered Birbal as his best friend and wanted more than his life. The North-West led the army in the Indian subcontinent and Birbal was killed in the battle of Afghanistan and Akbar expressed his grief over the loss of his best friend and not taken food or drink for two days. It is believed that when Birbal died, Akbar had himself locked in a room for several days.

There was a group named Navaratna in Akbar's court, from which Birbal was also one. Birbal's folk tales became so popular that dramas, movies, and books based on these folk tales were created. His folk tales were included in children's school textbooks.

  1. This article is wonderful. But I'm really sad of knowing how Birbal died. I thought he passed away because of old age. If he had been alive, I would love an autograph!
